Today we are doing something a little bit different. We aren’t talking about Bullet Journaling; we are talking about expressing your gratitude.

So prepare to get the most out of this practice with this post and 15 amazing gratitude prompts.

A gratitude journal or gratitude log, if you’re planning to add it to your Bullet Journal, is a very simple practice of daily writing down small good things in your life.

It sounds pretty simple and really takes just a few minutes a day to do it, but the effects really are so significant.

Writing daily gratitudes will help you to see the world in a better light and to notice and appreciate more amazing people around you.

Daily gratitude will help you to become a happier, more mindful, and more present person.

Here I’ve gathered 23 simple but effective prompts that can help you get started with your gratitude journal. And there are some free printables as well, os be sure to scroll until the end.

23 Gratitude Journal Prompts

I’ve been doing daily gratitude for a very long time already, but it took me a while to figure it out.

So below are some prompts that will help you get started and find your own way to do your daily gratitude.

1. Happy Memory Of The Day

What was something that made you happy today? What made you smile? Why did I make you feel that way? No matter how small, think about it.

2. Something You’re Grateful For That You Didn’t Have Last Year

This of something amazing you have in your life now that you didn’t have before. What is it? What did you do to make it happen? How does it make you feel?

Take a minute to reflect on that and give yourself a pat for making it happen.

3. Your Favorite Person

Think about your favorite person in the world. Why do you feel that way? What are some qualities you like in them?

This simple exercise will help remind you of the amazing people that surround you and be more mindful and appreciative of your relationships.

4. Something You Love About Where You Live

Your country, your state, your city, or maybe just about your neighborhood.

5. Old Photos

So open your phone, scroll through your photo albums, and find one picture. Write down why this was important, why this moment was special, and how did it make you feel? Why are you grateful for this photo?

6. Act Of Kindness From Another

Sit and think of an act of kindness somebody did for you. It can be a family member or a friend, but it also might be just a random stranger on the subway.

And don’t just think of anything huge, something simple like giving you a smile or allowing you to pass before them.

7. Something You Love About Your Job | Career

It might seem daunting and tiring sometimes, but there must be some things you love about what you do.

8. 3 Things | People That Make Your Home Feel Special

No place like home; show some gratitude for the things and people who make it a special place.

9. Your Favorite Piece Of Art

What is your favorite artwork? Write down why you love it and how it makes you feel.

10. Your Favorite Song

Think of your favorite song. Why do you like it so much? How does it make you feel? What does it make you think about?

Alternatively, you can also create a playlist Bullet Journal spread, if you have a lot of musing you’re loving these days.

11. 3 Things You’re Grateful For Today

Pretty simple – write down 3 things that you’re grateful for today.

This really can be anything, from sunny weather to that delicious cupcake you had for a coffee break. It doesn’t matter how small.

For bonus points, try to write more – 5 or maybe even 6 things.

12. Teacher / Mentor You’re Grateful For

How did he/she help you? What are some things you were able to achieve thanks to them? What is something that made you think of or consider it?

13. Your Favorite Tradition

Think about that – what are some of the traditions you are most grateful for? Why and how do they make you feel? How did they help you become the person you are now?

14. Why Are You Different

What s something that makes you unique from those around you, and why do you love this about yourself?

15. Something That Cheers You Up

Think about something that makes you feel happy when you’re down. Something that helps to keep these blues away.

16. What Is Your Biggest Accomplishment

Think of what are some of your small victories. How hard did you work for it? How did it make you feel when you made it happen?

17. Your Best Life Experience

Think of something amazing that you got to experience in your life. What was it? How did it make you feel? Why are you grateful for having this experience in your life?

18. 10 Things I Like About Myself

Think of something you love about yourself. How did they help you in life? Why are you grateful to have these characteristics?

19. What Possessions Make Your Life Better

Time to think about actual things. Sit down and think of stuff that makes your life better.

It can be anything, from your coffee machine to that bag that basically has a black hole inside and can fit anything.

20. Your Favorite Hobby

Write about your favorite hobby. Why do you like it? What does it help you with? How does it make you feel?

21. Somethings Good In The Community

Think of something good that happened in the community lately. Maybe they finished renovating the playground. Maybe there is a new volunteer program.

This of all the little good things that happen within your community. For extra effort – try volunteering or helping out.

22. Nature

Write down five objects found in nature you’re grateful for. It can be beautiful flowers or maybe pine trees that you always played among when you were a kid.

23. Your Looks

Choose one thing you love about your appearance and write a paragraph on why you love it.

  1. I started a gratitude log after I was really sick in 2019 – I could have died, actually. After that, I realized how thankful I was for a lot of things in my life. For some reason or another, I never thought much about things like that so I decided to change that. Since then, I sit down every night and think of one thing I am thankful for -just like you say, Masha, no matter how small it may be. It can be something I accomplished at work, my daily workout routine, sunshine during the day or something my husband did for or with me. :-)
