Best Doodling Supplies

Before we look into the tutorials, let’s have a quick word on some stationery that I think will help you enjoy doodling more.

Of course, you can use anything you already have, but if you want a bit more, here are my favorites that I’m sure you will love as well:

  • Notebook. I always think it’s a good idea to have a separate doodling notebook; that way, you have a journal with doodle ideas, and you can see your progress. You don’t need anything fancy for that; Lemome Dotted Bullet Notebook works just as well.
  • Pencil and eraser. A pencil is your secret weapon when it comes to doodling. Start all your doodles with a pencil, and you’ll be able to avoid a lot of errors and make it look better before you use a pen. You need a pencil with a comfortable grip and an eraser that won’t leave any streaks. I recommend Pilot Dr. Grip pencil and Sakura Foam eraser.
  • Fineliners. These are the best pens to do your doodling, and I definitely recommend using Sakura Pigma Micron – they come in a set with different nib sizes, so you get a variety of line thicknesses.
  • Colorful markets. If you like color on your doodles like I do, you’ll want to get some markers. I always recommend Crayola Super Tips, because they come in a pack of 100 colors and are very affordable.

Ok, now you have all your supplies ready, let’s dive in and look at some things that are easy to draw for you right away.

Easy Things To Draw: Step-By-Step Tutorials

I have plenty of simple tutorials to share with you, so I’ll try to categorize them into smaller sections.

The most important thing for any doodle, as you will see in these tutorials, is to start with a simple basic shape. This is an easy start we all can do, and that is your key to being able to doodle anything you want!

Ok, get your supplies and let’s get doodling!

Stationery Doodles

Let’s start with my favorite things to doodle – stationery! There are plenty of uses for these doodles, and they are fun and easy to draw as well.

Let’s start with a simple doodle of a pencil.

It’s a very easy doodle, but what I love about it is how many ways you can customize it – if you make it longer or thicker or a bit less round, you can get a completely different look.

Next up is this cute and colorful doodle of crayons.

I love everything that can be colorful and happy, and this doodles it all about basic shapes, so it’s easy to master even for complete beginners.

I don’t really use paint in tubes, but it makes for an interesting doodle to play around with.

Plus, with paint, there are plenty of colors you can use, so it can really be enough to have one doodle for the entire Bullet Journal theme.

Next up is a marker, and as you can see, it’s a very easy thing to draw – it’s basically a rectangle with some rounded shapes.

And if you need any inspiration on what to add as your marker design, you can always just look at some real markers.

Step-by-step tutorials on how to doodle paint and brush

Last but not least, stationery doodle is this set with a brush and paint. I somehow often use it, and it can go with so many different themes and ideas.

My favorite part is definitely the fact that you can use any colors you want for the paint, allowing you to customize it to your own style.

Food And Drink Bullet Journal Doodles

Next to us are the food and drink doodles. I think it’s a fun topic to explore, and you have so many different ideas to choose from!

Plus, these would be perfect for any of your meal planning or health and wellness-related pages.

First, let’s start with a piece of pie, which is basically some triangles and rectangles.

It’s a delicious doodle, but it’s also something perfect for cozy Fall pages.

There is always a reason for a cold coffee, so you’ll get plenty of use from this cute doodle.

Plus, if you change ice to boba and make the coffee color a bit lighter, you can definitely pass this doodle as a bubble tea.

Popcorn is your classic movie snack, so it will be a great idea to try in your movie or TV-related Bullet Journal pages.

And of course, if you want a more chunky and rounded look, you’ll get something cuter.

Is this a cup of coffee? A cup of tea? Hot chocolate? It could be anything you want, depending on the season and your favorite drink.

This tutorial explains the basics, you get to add details and custom elements yourself ot make it look different and unique to yourself.

Easy and Cute Bullet Journal Doodles - how to draw cheese

Who doesn’t like cheese? And it’s such a fun doodle to draw with all those holes!

Also, am I the only one who thinks of that mouse from Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers every time I see cheese? I can’t get away from his silly face when he smells cheese in the vicinity!

Pretzel is one of my favorite baked goods, and surprisingly, it’s not an easy one to get right. Or maybe I’m just spoiled by a pretzel I had in Germany.

Either way, here is a fun and easy way to add this deliciousness to your Bullet Journal pages.

Floral Doodles

Flowers are some of the most popular doodles, I would say. There’s a wide variety, and you can experiment with patterns and colors as much as you want.

And even though it sounds like florals are challenging to draw, there are actually plenty of easy floral and botanical doodles you can start with, and here are just a few.

Daffodils seem like pretty complicated flowers to draw, but in fact, it’s just a formation of water drop-shaped petals, and the rest comes together easily.

I think this is a perfect flower for any Spring-related pages. Let me know in the comments if you also think of that season when seeing daffodils.

There are many different ways to draw roses, and I’ll share some others later on, but here is one that is pretty simple but also still makes a flower look somewhat realistic.

The fun thing about roses is that there are so many colors available that you can really use just this one doodle to create an entire colorful theme in your Bullet Journal.

This flower is more about playing with patterns and colors than being realistic. But it’s a doodle, so you really can do anything you want with it.

This shows you the basics, and it’s up to you to decide whether you want to make it a crazy doodle or a more realistic flower.

Drawing a bouquet of roses is, in fact, a very simple task. As you can see, once we divide it all into small steps, it’s actually surprisingly simple, even if you never doodled before.

Plus, again, you can play around with colors and the number of roses to add your own touch to this doodle idea.

This, to me, looks like a doodle of a plant from some fantastical, futuristic alien world, even though he wouldn’t be surprised if something like that really existed in our world as well.

Either way, it’s a cute idea, and it can add variety to your botanical doodles, even if you just use it to fill out some extra space.

Houseplants still count as botanical doodles if you ask me! And my favorite part about those is that you get to play around so much with the colors and patterns of the pots and vases used.

A houseplant can be its own Bullet Journal theme, or a great addition to something like a book tracker or a home decor theme.

Like I said, there are many different ways to draw roses, and here is one more idea.

It looks less realistic, but it is a ridiculously simple and quick doodle to draw, and it looks good every time!

Seasonal Doodle Ideas

Next up, let’s look at some of the doodles inspired by the seasons. After all, seasonal symbols and weather really are fun to draw inspiration from.

A polar bear might sound like a complicated thing to draw, but the beauty of doodling is that you don’t have to go very detailed or accurate; you can simplify things and still make it look recognisable and cute.

This polar bear doodle is a great example of just that!

Obviously, to follow through with the winter season, we can’t escape a snowman doodle. And as you can see, it’s super simple – just a few circles.

The good thing is that you can customize it as much as you want, with different details you can add to your snowman, like a hat or a scarf.

We can’t talk about spring without some bunnies, and to make it easier, I made this into a chocolate bunny.

As you can see, it’s all about circles and ovals, and once they are in the right place, all you need to do is just clean up the shape to fit the actual doodle.

I don’t really know if carrots are already ready to be harvested in spring. I know nothing about growing anything, but somehow, with the easter bunny, I end up always associating carrots with spring.

If you know, share with us in the comments!

You can’t talk about summer without thinking of swimming, so of course, a swimsuit is a must-have doodle for the season.

What I love about it is that there are so many different designs, colors, and patterns that even if you follow these exact tutorials, you can still create a uniquely looking swimsuit.

Not that I’ve ever seen a wild crab, but somehow, when thinking of the beach, I can’t avoid thinking of little crabs running.

This doodle has more details than some others, but it’s still pretty basic once we divide it into easy-to-follow steps.

Next season is fall, and of course, you can’t talk about fall without bright, colorful leaves.

The thing I love the most about it is that there are so many different and beautiful colors to choose from that every time you draw this one, it can have a unique look.

Mushroom season is definitely at the end of summer, beginning of fall, so this doodle is absolutely fitting for the season.

I love mushrooms because they come in so many different shapes and colors that you can never be bored!

Random Doodle Drawings

Last but not least is a random doodle category – just a few things that can be fun to draw and didn’t necessarily fit in any of the sections of this blog post.

This controller is a bit more detailed and requires a lot of other elements. And it might look like a pretty elaborate doodle once it’s done.

But as you can see, it’s all about super basic shapes, and once you see it, it’s easy to follow and create your own controller design.

I love makeup doodles; they are really fun to draw, and with all the different bottles and colors available, you can play around so much with the design of any makeup drawing.

Lipstick is probably the easiest one to start with; it’s all straight lines and basic shapes, and you don’t even need to refine too much.

Easy and Cute Bullet Journal Doodles - easy lamp drawing

A lamp is a perfect doodle for anything school and studying-related! And as you can see, it’s pretty basic and simple to draw.

With this doodle, you can also play around with colors and designs, so it’s easy to customize and to maybe make it look exactly like the lamp you have.

This could easily be a seasonal doodle, after all, it’s all about April showers, right?

Either way, this is just to prove to you that even basic doodles, like an umbrella, can be turned into something fun and playful with a few simple touches.

Last but not least is this doodle of a photo camera. I love it because it’s all about basic shapes, and it’s very easy to draw.

You can play around with colors, or maybe it’s a bit more chunky and rounded for a cuter look.

And there you go, here are a few easy things to draw, and as always, if you need more, just keep on scrolling – I have plenty more inspirations and ideas for you.
