Doodling Supplies
Let’s have a second to talk about the stationery you need to use for your doodling sessions.
Obviously, you can use anything you already have. But it’s more fun and sometimes easier to doodle when you have stationery you love, and that brings you joy every time you use it.
- Notebook. I always think it’s a good idea to have a separate doodling notebook; that way, you have a journal with doodle ideas, and you can see your progress. You don’t need anything fancy for that; Lemome Dotted Bullet Notebook works just as well.
- Pencil and eraser. A pencil is your secret weapon when it comes to doodling. Start all your doodles with a pencil, and you’ll be able to avoid a lot of errors and make it look better before you use a pen. You need a pencil with a comfortable grip and an eraser that won’t leave any streaks. I recommend Pilot Dr. Grip pencil and Sakura Foam eraser.
- Fineliners. These are the best pens to do your doodling, and I definitely recommend using Sakura Pigma Micron – they come in a set with different nib sizes so you get a variety of line thicknesses.
- Colorful markets. If you like color on your doodles like I do, you’ll want to get some markers. I always recommend Crayola Super Tips, because they come in a pack of 100 colors and are very affordable.

Best Books On Doodling Flowers
Books are always a great source of knowledge, and it's definitely true for doodling as well. In fact, my own doodling journey started with a few of these books.
It's honestly much easier to practice when you have a whole book of well-organized tutorials to choose from. And there are also very helpful if you want to do something like a doodle-a-day challenge - you can just go through all the doodles in these books one by one.
Ok, let's dive in and let me share with you some of the best books out there for learning how to draw flowers.
How To Draw Modern Florals: An Introduction To The Art of Flowers, Cacti, and More
This book was definitely my introduction to floral doodles. The author is a wonderful creat=or with a beautiful style for drawing flowers, and the book is packed with tips and tricks, together with tutorials.
This book teaches you how to draw larger types of flowers, and maybe it's a bit too comp.,icated if it's your first drawing book. But this is definitely a staple and perfect for understanding the principles of adding that little something special to your bug floral illustrations.
No doubt here, this is my favorite floral drawing book. This creator went with really simple floral and botanical doodles and a thin kit. makes it a perfect one for beginners
It smoothly takes you on a journey from simple leaves to more elaborate plant and floral doodles.
Drawing flowers in watercolor definitely requires a different approach and new techniques. So if you want to explore this, you'll love this book!
It will take you step by step from choosing the right supplies to different techniques and, finally, tutorials for different types of flowers.
This book gives you 50 different floral tutorials to help you master the skill of drawing a perfect flower. For each flower, the creator gives you space to practice right in the book, as well as an easy-to-follow tutorial.
As a little bonus, there are also several pages of floral illustrations that you can use as inspiration for your future projects or as a coloring page.
When I saw that my favorite creator released one more book on drawing flowers, I knew I had to get it. This book is full of beautiful floral tutorials but also has plenty of information on how to build different elements with your florals, like frames or wreaths.
At first, I was really into this creator's Instagram since they were sharing easy-to-follow floral tutorials. But when I saw they put it all together in one book, I knew it was a worthy one.
This book. has simple step-by-step tutorials that will teach floral doodles even if you've never doodled before. I really like how the creator breaks it all into easy steps and creates grids to make it easier for you to follow.
This book is a little bit different. Instead of following a tutorial it invited you to trace the drawing over and over again until you have the muscle memory of doodling that flower.
It's not my favorite approach, but if you know some basics of floral doodles, this could work very well for you. I would recommend using tracing paper instead of doing it in the book so you can trace it over and over again as many times as you want.
This book has tutorials for drawing 40 different flowers, each tutorial going into minute details to help you follow every step. The Ezhc tutorial is divided into 12 simple steps you'll be able to follow even if you're a complete beginner.
This book will teach you how to draw 35 beautiful floral doodles in the unique and gentle style this creator has. More than that, it also has a separate section on coloring techniques, so you can add a pair of bright colors to your flowers.
