As much as I want to say that there is a little pill you can take once to become a master of brush lettering in one day, the truth is there is no shortcut. Just like with other skills, you get better only by practicing.
The good news is, however, that there are plenty of FREE worksheets you can get to help you practice and master the beautiful art of brush lettering.

Before diving into the worksheets, let’s discuss the most effective ways to use them efficiently. There are a few tricks that you should be aware of to make it smoother, easier, and more affordable.
If you’re planning to practice directly on your printable worksheets, choosing high-quality printing paper is crucial. Rough paper surfaces can wear down your delicate brush tips pretty quickly, and that’s definitely something we want to avoid!
For those who’d rather not spend on premium paper, there’s an easy alternative. Place a sheet of tracing paper over any regular paper, and voilà! You have a reusable worksheet that’s gentle on both your brush pens and your budget. This method also means you won’t need to print new worksheets repeatedly.
When selecting tracing paper, focus on smoothness to ensure your pens glide effortlessly. There are plenty of great options out there, so you’re sure to find one that suits your needs.
No, that you have all that, you just need to grab your brush pens and start practicing.
In case you don’t have any in your collection yet, I want to mention a few of my favorites that I think are especially convenient for beginners:
- Tombow Dual Brush Pens. They are amazing, have tons of colors, and, most importantly – their brushes are very beginner-friendly. Plus, the marker tip will help you fix any small mistakes in your lettering you might make as a beginner.
- Smaller brush pen for more detailed work, such as headers for your weekly spreads. Here is where you have a wonderful option of Tombow Fudenosuke pens. They come in hard and soft tips so that you can control the style of your lettering.

Let's start with some lettering freebies that I've created. There are some brush lettering workzhetes, like basic strokes and months of the year. But there are also some hand-lettering and handwriting worksheets that I'm sure you'll also find useful.
Tombow produces some of the best brush pens on the market, so of course, they would share some free worksheets to help you get the most from their brushes. These are for large brush tips and have all the types of worksheets you need to practice all the elements.
And don't worry, these would work for any large brush tip pen, not just the Tombow ones.
These worksheets are probably best for small tip brush pens and include the basic strokes, as well as months of the year - a very useful practice for your Bullet Journal pages!
These worksheets feature both capital and lowercase letters to help you achieve the full scope of your lettering projects. They are also best for large brush pens.
There are also some worksheets to practice words, which is excellent if you are at the stage to learn how letters should connect.
This amazing resource has worksheets for all your needs, from basic strokes to capital and small letters. And looking at the size, it would probably work best for small tip brush pens.
These sisters are incredible lettering artists, so of course you can count on them creating incredible worksheets to help you improve. These particular ones go very deep into all the basic strokes that will build the base for your future letters.
There is no image for the worksheets that are here, but there are plenty! You can find all types of worksheets, from basic strokes to letters, and for both small and large brush tips.
These free worksheets will help you master basic strokes, but also the lowercase alphabet. They are probably most suitable for large tip brush pens.
These practice sheets won't just help you with your letters, but will add some extra flourished style to them. They have a worksheet for large and small tip brush pens.
Learning days of the week learning is super useful for your weekly spreads, for example, and these worksheets will help you practice them in a very interesting and modern style. Since the letters are quite small, a calligraphy pen or a small-tip brush pen would be the best option.
It's always beneficial to have worksheets from different creators to see which style suits you best. Here is another lettering style, and these worksheets are for lowercase letters.
