Free Faux Brush Lettering Worksheets

Sharing is caring!

There are many types of Bullet Journal lettering, and they all are fun and can be a wonderful tool to add more creativity and style to any of your craft projects.

But what if you’re not quite ready to commit to fancy brush pens, or if the idea of mastering actual brush lettering feels a bit intimidating? That’s where faux lettering comes in!

It’s a game-changer for creating gorgeous, hand-lettered designs without needing special tools or advanced skills. To help you nail the technique, we’ve put together free faux brush lettering worksheets.

These are perfect for practicing at your own pace and adding some flair to your journal layouts.

Brush lettering is a beautiful art, but it does take a lot of time and practice to get it right, and I’m not even talking about tools yet.

Faux calligraphy is an easy shortcut to get a brush lettering look without any hard and elaborate techniques.

These worksheets are here to help you see how it can be achieved and show you different fonts that you can use for your faux lettering.

And if you’re looking for another type of lettering resources, I’ve got some more freebies and resources for you at the end of this post.

Stationery Recommendations

You probably already know what faux calligraphy is, so I won’t be explaining it here, but I wanted to share with you some supply recommendations that will help you make the practice more fun and efficient.

Here are some things you might need:

  • A comfortable pencil. I always find that the best way to start is by using a pencil and outlining the letters that way. By doing that, you’ll be able to fix anything you don’t like about the way your letters look. My favorite pen is Pilot Dr. Grip. You probably won’t need it for using these worksheets though.
  • Fineliners are the best if you want to create black brush lettering. I’d recommend trying Sakura Pigma Micron.
  • If you want colorful brush lettering, try using any colorful markers you have! I love using Tombow Twin Tone or Acrylograph pens for that (and you can get the acrylographs 10% OFF with my code MASHA10).

You’ll need some supplies for using these practice sheets as well, so here are some of my recommendations:

  • High-quality printer paper. You’ll need it if you plan to use markers for practicing, as they might get damaged if you use them on low-quality paper. I’d recommend using HP Premium Paper.
  • Tracing paper. A good idea for using any worksheets is to print them one and use tracing paper over them for practice. For that, any paper would do, try this Strathmore 300 Series Tracing Paper Pad.

And now that you have all the knowledge you need and have your supplies, let’s look at the practice sheets that will help you achieve your dream look with faux calligraphy.
