Stationery Recommendations
Just because you don’t need too many supplies to create minimalist Bullet Journal pages doesn’t mean you don’t need any supplies.
Here are a few recommendations perfect for minimalist style pages:
- Fineliners. For any Bullet Journal page, be it minimalist or artistic, you need a good set of fineliners. I recommend getting Sakura Pigma Micron pens, which also come in a set of different nib sizes, providing a wide variety of line thicknesses.
- Tombow Fudenosuke. This brush pen is very easy to master and is perfect for adding brush lettering to your Bullet Journal pages. These pens are also great for drawing if you feel like adding some minimalist decorations.
- Monochrome Brush Pens. For a great variety of monochrome colors, you can’t go wrong with Tombow Dual Brush monochrome set. Great for coloring as well as for brush lettering.
- Writing pen. You’ll need a good writing pen, and there are so many to choose from! I recommend getting Muji pens because they create beautiful thin lines and look aesthetic as well.
Now that you have all the supplies, let’s get inspired by some amazing weekly spreads!
Minimalist Bullet Journal Weekly Spread Ideas
I admire minimalists, especially because I absolutely lack the talent to enjoy the blank space. When I try it, instead of being stylish, it just looks out of place and asks me to fill it out with doodles or washi tape.
So checking posts l; like this one is key for me when I try to do minimalist since it really shows that sometimes it's ok to let go and just leave blank space; the layout will look better for it.
In case you're also ready to dive into minimalist style, let's check out these weekly spreads and see how the creators managed to do so much more with less.
This layout really did just the minimum - boxes for all the different sections and headers for each box, And you've got yourself a well-structured and ready-to-use weekly spread that looks great!
One page is a pretty common format for a weekly spread as well; sometimes you just don't need that extra space. I find that I especially often use this format when I use larger size journals.
Either way, this minimalist weekly spread doesn't even have any daily boxes and still looks so well structured. I think the true decoration for this weekly layout is beautiful handwriting. Isn't it just out of this world?
Just because minimalist means using less doesn't mean you can't decorate the pages or add some other elements. This is a beautiful example of just that. The patterns and colors are very subtle, and the whole weekly still plays with wide empty spaces between elements
Speaking of using color, you can definitely add a variety to your minimalist spread with slight colorful accents or maybe just use one color for your headers. I also like how the creator used a light grey pen for the boxes.
We've mentioned color a lot already, but going with black and white has a different aesthetic, and as you can see, it looks very stylish.
I also like that this creator used stickers for their weekly spread; it's a great time saver!
Here is one more example of a one-page weekly spread, and again, I find myself being so in love with this handwriting style.
Just because it's minimalist doesn't mean you can't decorate your layout. We already have an example of decorating it with patterns, but it looks just as stunning to decorate it with some minimalist-style botanical doodles. These are easy to draw, but they add such a beautiful feeling to the layout.
I love this weekly because it looks great, and it's a fantastic example of how much a font can add to your layout. These thick, bold letters are a vibe!
I don't know how the creator managed to do it, but I usually use my favorite stencil to get that straight and unified lettering style.
Do you agree with me that this layout works in a minimalist style? I think the decorative elements are minimal and very subtle, so it still has a place on this list.
Pink and grey are two colors that match so well together, and I think they can create that perfect set for a stylish minimalist weekly spread. I also really admire how many things the creator managed to add to each daily section of this weekly log.
I love this format of a weekly spread and the minimalist approach to setting it up. The white on black is actually one of my favorite techniques to use for minimalist pages or otherwise. I think it always looks super stylish.
And if you want to try it in your journal, I definitely recommend you try Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.
Here is one more way to decorate your minimalist weekly with a few very simple botanical doodles. I love how they add style to the weekly layout without taking away space for planning.
This is one of my favorite formats for weekly sales since it's so easy and fast to create! And with the way the creator played with the headers and light grey accents, it came out looking nice and clean.
Marm is always great with his weekly spreads, combining practicality with creativity. This has a very austere minimalist look, but he managed to add those little fun icons to each section just for fun.
We say a lot of black and white kind of layouts, but you can just as easily create a minimalist weekly spread with other colors, like brown here. I love the clean and stylish look this page has. And, of course, as somebody who loves coffee, I love the theme the creator chose.
