Stationery Recommendations
Before we look into the different theme ideas for April, let’s talk about different supplies. Because having fun and high-quality supplies is definitely something that helps make journaling more fun and enjoyable.
You can definitely use what you already have, but if you want to add something extra, here are some of my favorites.
- Fineliners. These are the basis for every Bullet Journal page and your faithful companions in the world of journaling. My top recommendation is the Sakura Pigma Micron, which also comes in different nib sizes, allowing for a variety of line thicknesses.
- Brush pens. Brush pens are perfect for adding brush lettering to your Bullet Journal pages, drawing, or even adding color. I would recommend the Tombow Fude brush pen for a smaller brush tip and the Tombow Dual Brush for a larger brush tip and significantly more colors.
- Stencils. Stencils are a great way to add decorative or functional elements to your Bullet Journal pages quickly. And unlike stickers, stencils are reusable. For Spring-themed pages, I think you would love these beautiful floral stencils.
- Markers. These are a must-have if you’re a fan of colorful pages. The choice of these depends on the colors you like. My favorites are Zebra Mildliner and Tombow Twin Tone.
Now that you have all your supplies, it’s time for you to get comfy in your home office and start planning out your April setup.
Bullet Journal April Themes
Anything can be a theme for your Bullet Journal, and even though a lot of these themes are inspired by the season, there are also plenty of ideas outside of it.
In this post, I gathered for you 13 different ideas that will get your creativity going and inspire you to create something unique in your journal. And if you want any more inspiration, you can always check more resources at the end of this post.
Let's dive in!
Spring is all about rebirth, with flowers and birds returning to our lives. So, a birdhouse theme seems very fitting, and I love that the creator also included flowers in it.
I also really like the idea of having a quote right next to your cover page; it helps set the mood for the month, and it's a great way to practice your lettering skills as well.
As I told you before, inspiration for a theme can come from more than just the season. Anything around you can be a theme idea for your journey, including your favorite TV shows.
For me, Gilmore Girls is more about Fall, but your journal has its own rules, and this creator decided to tackle this theme in April and did it in a stunning way.
Of course, easter is one of the big events happening for a part of the world in April, so it makes sense to have a theme surrounding it. I love the colorful and different approach the creator used for this particular cover page and the beautiful way to add color to the eggs.
I love bringing to my Bullet Journal things that bring me joy, so of course, at some point, I had to create a sushi theme.
But even more than that, sushi is very easy to doodle, and I like making them cartoony with different facial expressions. It was an absolute blast to doodles these cuties on each page.
Flowers are always a beautiful theme to explore any month of the year, but I think it is especially true for Spring when nature comes back to life and blooming.
I love that his creator went for a bit of a different look, making the flowers come out of an envelope. Somehow I love this idea; it almost feels like the letter inside is beautiful and full of love like these flowers.
Green, especially fresh grass green, is a perfect color for any Spring monthly setup, and this is a very aesthetic way to create an entire theme simply around the color.
I love that this creator used different colored paper to add dimension and variety to this page but still added the cute little floral doodles.
Of course, we couldn't have the list of April themes without something to do with rain. So here is an example of an "April showers" theme. All the doodles are pretty simple, but the theme still looks beautiful and very fitting for the month.
Bees are lovely little creatures that are definitely deserving of their own monthly Bullet Journal theme, so why not try it out in April?
I think it's fitting that the creator also created that floral wreath around the bee; it fits the bee, and it fits the season very well, too.
If you like playing with different paper and going for a more crafty scrapbooky look in your Bullet Journal, you'll love this theme idea. You can get that elaborate with extra drawings added, or you can go easier and just use all the different paper scraps to create a pattern without anything extra.
Surprisingly, when I was collecting inspirations for April themes, I found that so many people used their favorite TV shows for a theme that month. This is a cute little example of bringing F.R.I.E.N.D.S. to your Bullet Journal.
A fun way to do a creative and yet simple monthly theme is to use watercolor. You can choose certain colors and use them for lettering and headers to create a cohesive-looking monthly setup in no time at all.
Cities and architecture are very beautiful themes, and I love how the creator approached the urban theme on this cover page. It is something that takes a lot of extra effort, but as you can see, it's absolutely worth it!
I really like that scrapbooky cozy effect of this layout as well, with all the different paper types and letters the creator added. I always love buying that kind of stationery, but I rarely use it, so this is a great example of how it can be incorporated in your monthly pages.
The Office is really my favorite TV show of all time. I have seen it countless times, and I probably know most of it by heart. So, when I saw this monthly setup, I knew I had to include this idea in the list.
I have never actually created an office theme in my journal, but the more I look at this one, the more I feel like giving it a try.
