35+ Fun and Creative Bullet Journal Mood Trackers and How To Use Them
Welcome (back?) to the blog, and today we’re talking about some of the most impactful Bullet Journal page ideas – mood trackers!
It’s a type of a habit tracker, but instead of habits, it allows you to track your moods. And it can really make such a difference for you and your mental health.
So let’s dive in and talk more about it.
Your Bullet Journal is an amazing tool that can help you with everything. It’s a swiss knife, and whenever you need help with something – it’s there for you.
Every time I talk about using your BuJo for self-care or for mental health, I mention that you should be using a mood tracker. So today, we’ll go a bit more into what a mood tracker is and how it can help you.
Let me start by saying that, for me, it’s not really a go-to tool. I don’t usually use a mood tracker in my monthly setups. However, I started using it more during the 2020 events and it really helped me to cope with the stress of it.
I started using them in my April and May Bullet Journal Setups and I feel like I’m finally at the point where I can really share with you what an amazing tool it has been.
Also, I will be including here 35+ different mood trackers to inspire your own mood trackers.
There are also some free printables for you, so be sure to scroll until the end of the post.
But before we dive into this, let’s start from the basics…

What Is A Mood Tracker
I’ve been blabbering about it the entire time, but if you’re new to the Bullet Journal community, you might not even know what a mood tracker is!
A mood tracker is a spread in your Bullet Journal that you use to monitor your moods.
Easy! right?
Usually, you would create a spread and assign certain colors to different moods. Later, as time goes by, you just color the space for the day in a color of the mood.
But there are actually several ways you can set up your mood tracker, so let’s look into that.
How To Set Up A Mood Tracker
First, let’s look into the color-coding system. There are two basic types of coding for your mood tracker. You can either assign a color to different moods or just create a general color evaluation from good to bad to best.
If you’re choosing to add color to each mood, start by thinking about what moods you usually have. It will come to you with practice, so don’t worry if you’re missing a mood or two on your first try!
Another thing is that you can create a mood tracker not just for every month, but for a whole year as well.
I don’t recommend creating daily or weekly trackers, since if you want to get the most out of your mood tracker you really want to see an overview larger than just one week.
These are the basic decisions you’d have to make and it’s all really up to you. There is no right or wrong answer, just try different things and see what works best for you.
Personally, I prefer creating monthly trackers with a general overview of the day from good to bad. This works very well for me since it’s exactly what I need from a mood tracker – to see when I’m having a bad day and make sure I make it better.
However, you might have different reasons to use a mood tracker, so be sure to not settle for anything until you find the way that works best for you.
Why Use A Mood Tracker
Now I hope you have a general understanding of what a mood tracker is and how you can set up one in your Bullet Journal, so it’s time to answer the big question – why would you want to have a mood tracker, to begin with.
- Notice your mood swings
First of all, of course, your mood tracker will help you see how your moods are changing during the month.
This can be very beneficial for you since usually, you don’t pay too much attention to your daily moods and you see things as a whole. Often, this perception can be wrong or overshadowed by one recent event.
But when you track your moods daily, you’ll start noticing that you’re having more good days than you though,t and seeing that will generally make you happier.
- Stop self-blaming
Mental problems often lead to low levels of productivity and breakdowns. When you’re not aware of a problem it’s easy to end up blaming yourself and making things even worse.
Having a mood tracker helps you to be mindful of your emotions and to look at them with no judgment. You’ll be able to see and understand that a one-off bad day is just that and can happen to everyone. But if it’s something much longer, it could be a sign that you need some help.
- Identify the triggers
If you have a mood tracker, it will help you identify things that trigger your bad or very good moods.
When you’re reviewing your month, look at your mood tracker and check what are the things that caused you to feel certain ways during the month.
Use this knowledge to your advantage to be sure you do more of the things that make you happy and are prepared when you know something will upset you.
- Self Care
A mood tracker is one of the most useful self-care spreads you can have in your Bullet Journal. This page will speak to you and let you know when you’re down and need an extra boost of positivity.
We get so wrapped up in our lives that self-care takes the back seat. With a mood tracker, you’ll be reminded every day to pay attention to yourself, which is ultimately, a great thing.
This is actually why I’m using a mood tracker lately – I needed a reminder that I should be working on myself and making myself feel better.
- Dealing with mental health issues
If you’re suffering from any type of mental health disorder, a mood tracker might actually help you AND your therapist.
Because of all the reasons I already mentioned above, this tool can be very helpful in the healing process, so it might be something you could use for your therapy sessions as well.
Bullet Journal Mood Tracker Inspirations
Finally, we’re at my favorite part – here, I gathered 35+ inspirations for your mood trackers. They all are different and use different systems and ways of tracking, so I’m sure you’ll find something for your own taste and needs.
Year In Pixels
We are starting from the massive year in pixels tracker. It’s a big table to draw, but it’s worth it and if you’re ready to commit to mood tracking for a whole year, it will be GREAT for you!
For more ideas on what to track on a yearly basis, be sure to chek my post Bullet Journal Yearly Tracker Ideas.
Circle Tracker
Since you can play around with your tracker as much as you want, you might consider creating a circle tracker – they look lovely and you can add any doodles you want inside or around the circle.
You also can create two circles so if you’re having more than just one mood you can track it all properly.
When creating a circle tracker try using this ruler – it’s my absolute go-to when it comes to everything circle.
Catch the Fireflies
I love this tracker and the fact that Nicole chose to draw little hearts instead of fireflies. The cool thing with this tracker is that the jars are so big that you can easily add more than just two moods to it.
Mood Mandala
This is another popular way of mood tracking. Creating mandalas can be very calming, so it makes sense to use one for mood tracking.
If you do, be sure you divide it into enough layers for each day of the month.
I actually have a set of mandala mood trackers in my shop!
They work a bit differently in the way that they are circle trackers with mandalas in the middle as decoration.
But they still allow you to track your moods and you get a beautiful mandala to color and decorate as you want.
Box Of Donuts
Life is like a box of chocolates, but maybe your moods are like a box of donuts? This cute tracker is so easy to create – just draw some circles and your donuts are done!
My favorite way to draw straight circles is to use my Westcott stencil – it’s pretty affordable, and it helped me with many basic shapes.
Cosmic Moods
The universe is so pretty, and you can easily use the multi colors of space to your advantage when you’re creating a mood tracker.
Use a different planet design for different moods, or maybe go wild with space colors instead. Or maybe both!
Go Green
And speaking of planets, how sweet is this little mood tracker? It’s perfect for the Earth day or Nature day theme in your Bullet Journal and allows you to finally use ALL the greens in your collection.
Animal Crossing
Is anyone else crazy about this game? I totally am, and I thought it’s a cool way to bring the game to your Bullet Journal.

Bee-autiful Day
For everyone in love with bright colors and yellow – here is a little mood tracker idea. I used all the yellows at my disposal to create different shades for different moods.
When filling out color a bee with the shade of yellow according to the mood.
This tracker took me a while to set up, but all the doodles are actually pretty simple, so it’s very beginner-friendly.
Catch A Star
It’s a very simple design, but it looks so darn cute! And it can go with so many themes – stars, space, astrology!
Bubbly Moods
When I think of a mood tracker, I automatically think of self-care. And what says self-care louder than a bubble bath!
It will look so pretty once you color all the bubbles.
Colorful Life
Mood tracker is based on colors, so why not take it literally and have a splash of paint as a symbol for each day? You can do as wild as you want with your colors here and it will look completely natural.
Catch The Butterflies
Butterflies are such a beautiful theme that I have two trackers to share. You can either draw one big one with tons of space to color.
Or you can go another way and create a small butterfly for each day! Animal Crossing style.
Turn On The Light
Lamps are very easy to doodle, but they can look so, SO pretty! There are several ways you can go with lamps mood tracker.
First, you can color code the light coming from the light bulbs.
Or you can get creative on how your light bulb looks inside!

Clouds are so easy to draw, so why not create a mood tracker full of cute little clouds!

In this case, just use words! It can also be good practice for your lettering skills since you get to try out different styles.
Sushi Love
Who doesn’t like sushi! I sure do, and I showed all my love for this deliciousness in my April mood tracker.

Pss, if you’re also more of a tea person, try something like this!
Floral Moods

Boho Vibe
When you think bohemian style, don’t you just get so calm and relaxed? I do! And I think this is what this mood tracker brings to the table.
The cool thing about it is that it’s completely up to you if you want it minimal and pastel or to create an elaborate design and use bright colors. Make it yours!
YUM YUM Breakfast Time
I simply LOVE croissants! So it just makes sense to me to create this type of mood tracker – make me look at the things I love every day.
Rainy Day
Moods can be so different, and it really depends on the day. Like with rain – sometimes it’s beautiful and romantic, and other times you’re wet as a dog and hate the world for it.
This tracker is a bit too grey for me, but if you want to add some color – feel free to! After all, umbrellas come in tons of different colors!
Drink Me
How adorable are these little bottles! It can be Alice in Wonderland theme or maybe Harry Potter! Whatever it is, they look simply magical and can be colored in any color you want.

Having a mood tracker is super beneficial; we already discussed that. What I didn’t mention is that it’s extra useful to have your mood tracker together with other things, like a sleep tracker.
That way, you’ll be able to see how one influences another and maybe change your sleeping patterns accordingly.
Artsy
I was so impressed when I saw this mood tracker!! It looks absolutely stunning and is based on one of my favorite paintings!

However, when I go to make it myself, I am so not impressed. It looks nothing like I had hoped.
Is there a place to get copies of the pages that are mentioned here in a black and white format for those of us who are not artistically talented?
