Supplies For Bullet Journal Cover Page
Before we look at the first page ideas, let’s have a quick chat bout stationery, since I believe it will help you enjoy the process more.
- Fineliners. Fineliners are the basis of any doodles or drawings you will make, so make sure to get a few, preferably with different tip sizes. Among my favorite fineliners are Sakura Pigma Micron and Staedtler Pigment Liner.
- Markers. You probably will want to add some color. I would offer to get some brush pens, like Tombow Dual Brush Pens or Sakura Koi Brush Pens. I also absolutely adore Zebra Mildliner Highlighters, they have two different tips, and their colors are so so pretty! For a bit more budget options, definitely check out Crayola Super Tips Markers, they are great, and you can use them for lettering as well as coloring.
I could talk about stationery for hours, but this isn’t what this blog post is about. So let’s stop here and let’s dive into some ideas to use in your journal.
First Page Bullet Journal Ideas
Even though I'm here to share a few ideas, I want you to remember that there is no one idea that is only for your first page. You are the one who creates rules for your Bullet Journal, so if you want to start it with a random weekly spread or a daily journaling entry - go for it!
These are suggestions to show you a bit of what's possible and get your creative juices flowing.
Let's dive in!
The first idea, and the idea I often use, is to write the current year. And I know this particular layout is quite intricate, but if you prefer something simpler, you can definitely do so.
I find that writing a year on the first page is an easy way to break into the new journal and it helps for archiving it in the future.
A key is the page you'll need in your Bullet Journal, especially if you're a beginner. So why not use it as a first page in your setup?
This is one of my favorite ideas, it helps me to kind of record what. I was doing, how my life looked,f things were on my mind when I started a journal.
It's also pretty interesting to see how, over the years, my about me pages change, and even the likes, dislikes, and interests I add to them are so very different.
Word of the year is a great practice. It's a perfect idea for your first page. It will help you set up the entire mood for your journal and will be there to remind you of your intentions.
I also like adding to my word of the year the meaning behind the word that I put into it when choosing it.
This is a beautiful idea that helps motivate you, set your intentions, but action allows you to express your creativity.
Grid spacing guide is one of the best pages to add to your Bullet Journal, once you already know the spacing, setting up all your Bullet Journal pages will be so quick.
This idea probably works best when you start your journal in January, but I still wanted to share it. You can get very creative with different designs and fonts to use for this layout.
I love creating memory pages, so of course I'll always love he idea of starting your Bullet Journal with a little trip down memory lane. I think it helps you get a bit of closure and overview of what has been happening last year, so you can more clearly set your goals and intentions for the upcoming new year and new journal.
I did this for a few years, and then I lost track of all the journals I was using. But it's a fun way to see how long you've been Bullet Journaling, and great for future archives.
OPatterns are a great way to make your page interesting, and I think they are so calming and meditative. It's a perfect idea for you to start your journal in a calm way and to worry less about things being perfect.
Last but not least, consider using a future log as your first page. After all, you don't really have to create something special for a first page; it's totally ok to just dive into planning right away.
