Handwriting is a personal thing. For some of us, it’s something we take pride in – the perfect cursive loops or careful printing strokes that represent our written words and tell a story about ourselves.

5 Ways To Make Your Handwriting Look Different

Just like with many other things, working on changing your handwriting is mostly about practice, but there are still a few other things you can do to help you on this journey.

Just remember that change doesn’t come right away, so be patient and stay persistent.

Let’s dive in; here are a few techniques that will help you make your handwriting look different.

Play With Upper And Lower case

We all know how to use upper and lower cases when we write. Well, why not mix things up a bit and try something new?

You may usually use a combination of upper and lowercase letters, but have you ever tried using only uppercase or lowercase? Trust me; it will give your writing a totally new look and feel.

So, next time you’re jotting down a note or writing a letter, experiment with your writing style and see how it turns out.

Who knows, you may just end up falling in love with a whole new way of writing!

Try Using Different Fonts

It’s super simple but highly effective. Have you ever tried experimenting with different fonts when writing?

It sounds pretty basic, but I think we often forget that our handwriting is a font, and we can actually switch things up if we want to.

You can make your letters rounder or narrower or even change their size to give your handwriting a completely different look.

Use A Different Pen

Have you ever thought about changing up your pen? It may sound like a small detail, but believe me; it can make a huge difference.

Trying out different types of pens can help you find the perfect tool for your handwriting style. Maybe a thinner pen will allow you to write smaller, more intricate letters, or a thicker pen will give your writing a bolder, more dramatic look.

The options are endless, and experimenting will make a world of difference! So, why not give it a go and see where it takes you? Who knows, you might end up discovering a whole new way of writing that you love, and that looks completely different from how you write now!

Make Your Letters The Correct Size

No matter what style you’re trying to rock, whether it be funky and flowy or sleek and sophisticated, your letters should always be the right size.

That means checking both the height and width of each and every letter.

Trust me, once you start paying attention to this detail, you’ll see a world of difference in how your handwriting looks. So you’ll end up with neat-looking handwriting that is nothing like the one you had before.

Change Your Letters Slant

There’s a simple and fun way to switch it up – add a slant (or get rid of it if you’re already a slanter).

Adding a subtle slope to your letters can give them a playful, whimsical feel. Or, if you want a more structured look, straightening out those letters will do the trick.

It’s amazing how just a small tweak can completely change the vibe of your handwriting. You might just surprise yourself with a new and improved handwriting style.

Handwriting Supplies

You know that I wouldn’t leave you without some pen recommendations. There are so many out there; it’s easy to get overwhelmed by choice.

So here are a few of my personal picks. Maybe these will be exactly what you need to change up your handwriting style:

  • Muji Pen – this is my favorite pen, it’s super smooth, and the lines are thin and beautiful.
  • Pilot G2 – has a very comfortable grip and beautiful thick lines. Definitely, a great choice if you have larger handwriting.
  • Zebra Sarasa Dry Gel Ink Pen – probably the fastest drying pen out there, so it’s definitely a great choice if you’re left-handed or just impatient with your writing.
