But don’t worry, I’m here to be your guiding light. By the time you reach the end of this post, you’ll have a treasure chest full of creative ideas to explore.

So let’s dive in!

Decorate Your Pages

Naturally, the most straightforward way to utilize your collection of washi tapes is by decorating those Bullet Journal pages.

It’s an easy way to add some color and creativity to your Bullet Journal pages, or even to create a whole monthly theme.

But my favrotie way t use washi tape is to decorate quote pages in my Bullet Journal. There’s something so satisfying about pairing an inspiring quote with the perfect strip of washi tape. It frames the words, giving them a stage to shine from, and helps to fill out this empty space that I’m never too comfortable with.

Create Tabs

If you’re not a bug fan of an index page, but still want to easily find the important information in your Bullet Journal, creating tabs is a n easy solution for that. And creating washi tape tabs is easy and stylish.

Here’s a delightful little hack: pick out your favorite washi tape, snip off a small piece, and attach about a third of it to the edge of the page you want to mark. Then, fold the remaining tape back over to the opposite side of the page. Voilà!

You now have a charming little tab ready to guide you back to this spot whenever needed. These tabs aren’t just practical for dividing up months or highlighting those all-important entries you keep coming back to—they also add a splash of personality and fun to your journal.

Washi Tape Headers

Headers are an easy way to make your Bullet Journal pages more creative and your entries stand out a bit more, especially if we’re talking about weekly spreads.

Washi tapes can help you level up your headers – why not try and use washi tape as a backgroup for your headers?

Any type of washi tape will look good if you’re using stickers afor your headers, and if you use a pen, try a lighter colored washi on top of which black ink will stand out more.

It’s an easy trick that can really elevate the look of your pages, and it won’t take a minute!

Use It As Dividers

Dividers is another fun way to add a bit of decorations to your Bullet Journal pages, and it’s a wonderful way to create lines without a ruler.

So using washi tapes to divide your information, be it just in your notes or in your weekly spreads, will help you keep your page decorative while also saving time when setting it up.

Create Frames

Frames are something you can use in your Bullet Journal as well. And there are many kinds – you can frame your headers or frame daily boxes in your weekly spreads.

Frames help you to keep your information well-organized and decorated. the only tip I’d give you is to try using thinner washi tape for frames; it will occupy less space and look cleaner.

For an example of frames here, I have a frame I’ve created on one of my memory-keeping pages around a photo, which is also an idea if you want to make your pictures stand out more.

Add Extra Elements To Your Pages

Adding extra elements to your Bullet Journal pages can be a fun way to hack your journaling experience or just add some more space to your page.

You can use washi tape to add a piece of paper with more information, to add a flap so your page has more space, or to add a little secret compartment to your spread so you have some hidden notes.

I found it very useful when creating my vision board, where I had a little hidden compartment with a letter to my future self, which I didn’t want to show.

Cover Up Mistakes

One of the best ways to use your washi tape is to fix mistakes. I know how world-ending every mistake on a new page might seem, and I’m happy to say that your beautiful washi tape is a perfect instrument to help you fix a lot of them.

It works pretty easily; just use a strip of washi tape on top of your mistakes, and nobody will know what’s hiding under it.

Here is an example of a mistake I made with my headers for a future log. I just used washi tape to cover it up. A good tip is to use thicker washi tape so whatever is behind it is well hidden.

And if you need to add some text on top of it, I definitely recommend you use black washi and a white gel pen or gold gel pen on top to write whatever you need.

Mark Important Pages

Here is another fun little trick – you can use washi tape to mark any extra important pages in your Bullet Journal.

It works pretty much like with tabs; only you mark the full edge of the page, and you make washi tape fit so it’s not sticking out.

I love using this technique for any page I know I’ll be coming back to, like my vision board or future log, or maybe some evergreen collections, like a book tracker.

As you can see, because the edge of these pages is fully covered with Ashi tape, they are pretty easy to spot and open.

Washi Tape Title Ideas

As you know, there are many different types of washi tape, and I’m not talking just about the various designs.

There are actually plenty of washi tapes that come pre-designed with valuable and practical elements, like to-do boxes, calendars, or days of the week.

They provide you with an easy way to add those elements to your Bullet Journal and make it look neat and stylish every time!

And there you go, here are just 9 ideas on how you can use washi tape in your Bullet Journal! As you can see, these beautiful rolls of colorful paper can do so much.
