Why Use Bullet Journal For Goal Setting

There are countless ways to keep track of your goals – apps, planners, sticky notes on the fridge.

But let me share a little secret from my personal experience: tracking my goals in Bullet Journal spreads has been a total game-changer. It keeps me focused on mygoals and saves me from that dreadful feeling of being overwhelmed.

So why exactly are Bullet Journal pages so darn effective for goal setting? Let’s break it down:

  • Limited Space. Here’s the thing about dreaming big: it’s easy to get carried away and end up with a goal list longer than a grocery receipt. That’s where the Bullet Journal swoops in to save the day! With limited space, it nudges us to zero in on the most important goals. This concise list is far easier to review and act upon daily than a lengthy document.
  • Accessibility. With a Bullet Journal, your goals are always at your fingertips. Each morning, you can take a quick glance to remind yourself of your monthly objectives. And the best part? You can carry it anywhere, turning those spare minutes waiting in line into productive goal-crushing moments.
  • Inspiration. In a Bullet Journal, your goal-setting pages can be as vibrant and inspiring as a rainbow! Add some color, doodles, or sprinkle in your favorite motivational quotes. Before you know it, your goals page will be a source of inspiration, making you excited about the journey ahead.
  • Reinforcement. Ever heard of the saying, “Writing crystallizes thought and thought produces action?” Well, it’s true! Writing down your goals significantly boosts the chances of achieving them. It’s like making a promise to yourself, and trust me, you’ll want to keep it!

I hope you’re now doubly excited to get started on your goals pages!

Stationery Recommendations

Before we look at the pages, let’s talk supplies since you’ll need some for creating a goals page.

There is such a variety of stationery available it’s easy to get lost and end up getting things you won’t be using or won’t like.

So here are a few of my recommendations:

  • A journal, of course. And it doesn’t have to be anything too extra; you can get any journal that fits your needs and your aesthetics, there are many to choose from out there. Lately I’ve been loving Scribbles That Matter journals (use code SAVE10 to get 10% OFF).
  • Fineliner. I think these are the blood of your Bullet Journal pages, helping you create any page you can imagine. They usually come in sets with different nib sizes, allowing for more line variety. My favorites are Sakura Pigma Micron.
  • Markers. I love making things more visual, especially goals pages, and adding color definitely helps. You can use anything you like, and I often recommend starting with Crayola Super Tips since they come in many colors and are more affordable. But my favorites are definitely Zebra Mildliners.
  • Stencils. Stencils are a great way to decorate your Bullet Journal or to just speed up the process of creating pages. For goal setting, I love this Level 10 Life stencil! But for more general planning, you should try these stencils from Amazon.
