Easy Title Design Ideas

Sharing is caring!

Looking for simple Bullet Journal title ideas to spice up your spreads, planning layouts, or maybe just school notes? You are definitely in the right place!

I remember when I first started my creative planning journey; I used to stare blankly at my pages, totally intimidated by all the elaborate headers I saw online. I wanted my planner to look cute and aesthetic, but I just did not have hours to spend on a single page, and I certainly did not feel confident in my lettering skills yet.

That is exactly why I have created this collection of easy, beginner-friendly title design ideas. You do not need an art degree or an overwhelming mountain of fancy stationery to make your pages pop.

With just a few basic pens and a little bit of practice, you can easily unlock your creativity and completely transform your planning routine. In this post, I am sharing some of my absolute favorite BuJo title ideas that anyone can recreate in just a few minutes.

Grab your favorite markers and let’s start decorating your journal pages together!

Titles are actually pretty easy to create – you mix different font ideas, different colors, and other elements together, and bang, you get yourself a cute little header.

You change up just one of the variables, and you have a completely new look!

The ideas I’ll share with you today are like that as well – they look this way because of the fonts and colors I chose, but you can just play around with different colors, and you’ll see how the same principle will create a completely different aesthetic. Meaning that these are easy to make to fit your journaling style.

I also want to let you know that there are some FREE printables at the end of the post to help you easily add creativity to your journaling, so be sure to scroll!

Meanwhile, let’s get our pens ready and start creating headers!

Stationery

Ok, here are the supplies I used when creating these titles, in case you want to replicate them.

But always remember that you don’t actually have to do it exactly the same way, look at these as inspirations, and you play around with these ideas however you want and use whatever color you like.

  • Altenew Fineliners – there are new fineliners in my collection, and I quite like them, very smooth to write with, and the black ink is rich.
  • Altenew Flex Calligraphy Pens – in two of these title ideas, I will use these fine style brush pens, which are great for smaller lettering or doodling.
  • Zebra Mildliners – these are my favorite markers of all time, so I use them nonstop!
  • Crayola Super Tips – this set is very affordable and comes in 100 colors, so you will definitely find a good combination that works for you
  • Koi Brush Pens and Tombow Dual Brush – don’t worry, I didn’t use them for any brush lettering, just for the beautiful colors. And also, I think brush pens are much more convenient for highlighting.

And that’s it, as you can see the basic set is easy – a fineliner and a marker. I just wanted to go a bit extra and add variety to the colors I used.

Now I want you to take out your pens, and let’s dive in and make some simple title designs together.

Simple Title Design Ideas

Uh, one more thing I forgot to mention before we start – there are plenty more ideas and tutorials I have right here on this blog, so be sure to scroll until the end of the post, where I’ll have them linked.

Ok, let’s dive in, and this is how this is organised – I will first show you two titles and then explain how I created them. After that, we will move on to the next set.

Colorful Title Ideas

We are starting with the two title styles that I actually use the most in my own Bullet Journal.

I think they are pretty self-explanatory when you look at them. For the first one, I started by creating little circles (you can use a Helix Circle Maker if you want them extra neat).

Inside, I wrote the letters in pencil and then outlined them to make them a bit thicker and rounded at the corners. And the rest was added with the colors.

The second set, as you can see, uses a very similar font – it’s basically block letters but with all the corners rounded. But I also added a little shadow here.

For the shadow, I decided to add it to the right and bottom part of each letter. I started by adding outlines on those sides, then filled them in with lines.

Aesthetic Title Ideas

The next set of two I called “aesthetic” because I think the colors I chose are very stylish and will work perfectly for that put-together vibe.

The first one is simple,m it’s all based on clock letters, but the corners are softened, and I made the vertical lines particularly chunky while keeping the horizontal ones thin.

I think this effect helps create a very fun contrast and style.

The second title is the one I actually use in my February 2026 setup. You basically just outline letters, and they are kind of in a chunky cursive style. The best tool here is to use a pencil first to draw your letters.

Then you just randomly add blobs of color behind the letters, wherever you want. I would recommend using lighter, softer colors here so they do not overpower the letters.

Simple Title Design Ideas

These might look elaborate, but they are super simple to create, and as you will see, the fonts used here are your basic capital letters.

For the first set, start by using a brush pen or highlighter to create a wavy line as your background. I chose three lines because it also makes it easier to see where the letters go after that. Just make sure that each line follows the same curve.

Then all you need to do is add your letters in the middle color.

For the next title, we start with drawing a little square of color, and I made them a bit angled to each other, so it’s slightly more fun and interesting. Inside each square, I wrote a letter, here just in capital letters, but you can play around with styles.

To make it a bit more fun, I also added a shadow to each square on the right and bottom sides.

Pastel Title Ideas

Since I used my pastel-colored brush pens for these titles, I call this set of titles.

The first set is basically a bold block font, with thick vertical lines, like in block letters, but the horizontal lines are just lines.

The fun part about these is that because the vertical lines are so thick, you can actually add decorations and patterns inside them. Here I used lines and repeated colors, but you really can add any design you like.

For the second one, I used this absolutely dramatic set of lines and colors to frame the letters, while the letters themselves were written with a fine brush pen. You could actually achieve it with any fineliners as well; just make sure the vertical lines are thicker, and the horizontal ones are thinner.

Chaotic Title Ideas

To me, these two titles look like pure chaos and an explosion of color, so this is how they shall be known here.

The first idea came to me when I realized how hard it is for me to color within the lines, so I decided, why don’t I go outside of the lines and make it fun instead!

Start by drawing your letter, and you can use any font you want. I used the one you see often, which is a block-style letter with thick vertical lines, thin horizontal lines, and rounded corners.

Then, I took the colors and drew the letters in the same style, but a little bit offset from the outline. I tried to offset them in different directions so you get a fun variety.

The second title design is basically just creative writing, except that all the vertical lines are three instead of one. And then, as a little bonus, I added random lines of color on the background.

Looking at it now, I’m thinking it might’ve looked better if the colors were a bit softer, so play around with that!

Title Design Ideas With Brush Pens

For these ideas, I did use my brush pens, but as you will see, it is not really necessary; there is no brush lettering involved.

The first one is pretty easy. At first, I used my brush pens to draw various geometric shapes and a fineliner to outline them. I didn’t go with just a line, though; I went with my favorite line for the line combination.

Then, to add the letters inside, I used a brush pen, so they look a bit like brush letters. But to be honest, these are small letters and not connected, so you could just as well use a fineliners to draw the letters instead of writing.

For the last but not least idea, I used two colors, one darker and one lighter. I started with using a darker color to write the title in cursive.

After that, I used the lighter color and added a thick line of shading on the right and bottom of each letter. Here, I used a brush pen because it is easier for me, but you could also use a normal marker or highlighter.

And just like that, you have yourself 12 title design ideas to play around with.

As I said before, you can change the fonts, colors, and even the sizes of your letters, and see how it completely changes the look and aesthetic of each header.
