If you’re planning to practice directly on your printable worksheets, choosing high-quality printing paper is crucial. Rough paper surfaces can wear down your delicate brush tips pretty quickly, and that’s definitely something we want to avoid!

For those who’d rather not spend on premium paper, there’s an easy alternative. Place a sheet of tracing paper over any regular paper, and voilà! You have a reusable worksheet that’s gentle on both your brush pens and your budget. This method also means you won’t need to print new worksheets repeatedly.

When selecting tracing paper, focus on smoothness to ensure your pens glide effortlessly. There are plenty of great options out there, so you’re sure to find one that suits your needs.

The next thing I want to mention are supplies you’ll need, or more specifically – brush pens.

Obviously, when you’re driving into brush lettering you’ll need some stationery, brush pens in particular. And I can talk about it for a long time, sicne theer are many amazing choices.

But here are a few of my favorites that work especially well for beginners:

  • Tombow Dual Brush Pens. They are amazing, have tons of colors, and, most importantly – their brushes are very beginner-friendly. Plus, the marker tip will help you fix any small mistakes in your lettering you might make as a beginner.
  • Smaller brush pen for more detailed work, such as headers for your weekly spreads. Here is where you have a wonderful option of Tombow Fudenosuke pens. They come in hard and soft tips so that you can control the style of your lettering.
