Hand Lettering Supplies
Before we dive into the courses, let me mention a few stationery items that you’ll find useful on your journey to discovering hand lettering.
I often find that having the right supplies helps not only create more beautiful pieces but also generally feel more motivated to start soemthing new.
Of course, you can use anything you already have in your collection. But if you want something extra, these are my recommendations:
A comfortable pencil. Especially when you’re doing hand lettering, you will have to use a pencil a lot, and having one with a comfortable grip will help you enjoy the hobby more. My recommendation is Pilot Dr. Grip mechanical pencil.
Good fineliners. I think fineliners, with their archival ink, smooth writing, and beautiful black lines that stay dark, are perfect for hand lettering projects. Plus, they usually come in sets with different nib sizes, allowing you to add more variety to your lettering. My top pick are Sakura Pigma Micron.
Tombow Fude brush pen. If you want to add a bit of brush lettering to your hand lettering pieces, this is absolutely the best pen to do so. It’s perfect for beginners and has a small tip that will allow for some detailed work.
Now, with all the supplies at ready, let’s talk about the free classes you can take.
