But don’t worry, I’ve found the perfect antidote to our line-drawing woes – say hello to our trusty friend, the thin washi tape! Yes, you read that right. You can use thin washi tape to neatly divide your days. Not only does it save you from wrestling with a ruler, but it also gives you a chance to flaunt your washi tape collection (we all have one, don’t we?).
It’s a quick and easy way to set up your spreads. And the best part? You’ll be done in no time, giving you more moments to savor the joy of Bullet Journaling.
Washi Tape Banners
We’re making decorative banners for our weekly spread! I know, I can hardly contain my excitement either!
Now, there are two ways to unfurl your creativity here. The first option is to use colorful washi tape to create cute, eye-catching banners. Think of them as little pops of joy on your page.
But wait, there’s more! If you’re feeling bold, why not grab some dark washi tape and write the date directly on top of your banner? It’s like having your own personal mini-calendar right in your journal.

Here’s a fun trick: grab your favorite washi tape, cut a piece off, and stick about a third of it to the edge of your page. Now, fold over the excess tape to the other side of the page, and voila! You’ve got a nifty little tab sticking out.

Bullet Journal Key Flap
Let me share with you a little secret that will transform your Bullet Journaling experience. It involves a key on a flap, and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer, especially if you’re just dipping your toes into the Bullet Journaling waters.
Picture this: you’re getting to grips with the signifiers system, or perhaps you’re introducing some new symbols, or maybe you’re taking color coding for a spin. Sounds fun, right? But also a little bit daunting. That’s where our hero, the key flap, swoops in to save the day!
To ensure it’s sturdy, I’d suggest making the flap that attaches to the cover quite large. In my case, it was the same size as the part with my key.
This way, you won’t have to flip all the way back to the first page of your journal – just flip out the key, and voila, you’re good to go! With the flap, your key is always within sight when you need it.
Creating this lifesaver is a breeze. Grab a piece of paper and jot down your key, aligning everything to the left or right, depending on which side of the notebook you’re attaching it to.
Next, fold the paper and line it up with your Bullet Journal cover. And for the grand finale, secure it with some washi tape. And just like that, you’ve got a handy key flap that’s always at your fingertips.
Washi Tape Headers
Did you know you can use your washi tape to jazz up your headers? Oh yes, you can! You can scribble directly onto the washi tape for a quick and easy header that’s as unique as you are. It’s like giving your Bullet Journal a mini makeover with every entry.
