Stationery Recommendations
Before you sit down in your home office or at the dining table to plan for January, you’ll need to get your supplies. And in this world, there are too many to choose from.
So, to keep it simple, here are some of my favorite supplies that I think you’ll love using in your Bullet Journal as well.
- A journal. Of course, you can’t plan without a journal, and there are many to choose from. My top choice are Archer and Olive journals (you can get 10% off with my code MASHA10), but there are plenty of more affordable options as well, such as Lemome Dotted Bullet Notebook.
- Fineliners. These pens are the blood of your every page! Apart from smooth ink flow and rich black lines, they can create, they also come in sets with different nib sizes, so you can add more variety. My top choice is Sakura Pigma Micron pens.
- Markers. If you like adding color to your journal, you’ll need some markers! I always recommend Crayola Super Tips, since they come in many colors and are pretty affordable. You can also use them for brush lettering!
- Tombow Fude brush pen. This pen is your universal friend that will help you create beautiful headers, brush lettering, doodling, and drawing. The small, easy-to-control brush tip makes it a perfect pen for all beginners as well.
- Washi tapes. In case you’re looking for an easy way to decorate your Bullet Journal, washi tape is the way to go! There are all imaginary themes and colors of washi tape out there, so you’ll be able to find something that fits your aesthetics.
With all the supplies at ready, let’s get planning.
Bullet Journal January Theme Ideas
The thing I love about themed pages in your Bullet journal is that there are no rules, and pretty much anything can be a theme. But that can be overwhelming as well.
So here in this blog post, I gathered 19 ideas and inspirations for you. Pick any of these, or maybe they will give you a jolt of creativity to come up with something unique.
Let's dive in!
I always try to have something special for January, something deeply personal, or the other way, something neutral, like this pattern and color theme. With December being a busy month, this setup was very quick, and it still looks cute.
All you really need is some washi tape for the white space that you later take off to see this kind of pattern.
With January being a winter month, something cozy and warm seems like a wonderful choice of a theme to explore. Andty his creaytir absolutley kmnocked it out of the park with this cover page!
Your theme can be inspired by anything, including holidays like the New Year. I love how simple and festive this cover page looks. A perfect exa,ple that you don't need much to create something beautiful.
I think flowers are a theme that works for any month of the year, and honestly, they are one of the most popular themes for a reason. How visvis and beautiful this cover page!
Like I said, anything can be your theme, and here is an example of a theme based on sweets. I really love this idea, and it's fun that the creator also added a quote next to the cover page, setting up the mood for the month.
Something fun you can do with your theme is to create one based simply on colors. This created added paint blotches of beautiful pastel colors, and it looks so gentle and cute!
Even though, now that I look at it, these ight be clouds. After all, in the middle, you can see little stars.
If a vintage aesthetic is more your style, I have some inspiration, and I love how the creator combines all the elements to deliver it for you.
This theme is super colorful, and it makes me happy - I still remember all this now, out-of-date tech, and how fun it was to have a colorful flip phone! I think the creator definitely did justice to this idea.
January is a wonderful month after all, so you might want to do something with that - dark, starry night, snow, warm lights of a tram. It almost feels like a fairy tale.
I love this idea, and the creator really made it look super cute and cozy. Also, if you look closer, you can see that it is a pretty easy theme to create in your journal as well, since the doodle is very clearly divided into small and easy-to-draw shapes.
This is a very creative and different take on a book theme, and I definitely like the aesthetic and the colors this creator chose. The addition of a page from a book really makes the theme stand out and adds contrast to the whole layout.
I adore this theme and the color combination the creator chose. And because origami is about paper folding, all the doodles are basic shapes you create with a ruler.
Here is another inspiration for a floral theme; this time, flowers are almost like a pattern. I think it looks like one of those designed high-end wallpapers.
This theme looks stunning, and I love that the creator didn't go just for butterflies but added more elements like flowers and the mood. It almost looks like a magical night.
It's also fun that they decided to start a piece of washi tape, such a creative idea!
This cover page looks stunning, and I can't help but fall in love with this color combination. I have a soft spot for pastel colors.
The idea is pretty simple, and yet you can play around with it so much, customizing it and adding variety depending on your own style.
I adore the bright colors and the small scale of the drawing on this cover page. It makes it look so much cuter and gentler.
And it's a pretty creative idea to have an upside-down umbrella as a pot for the plants.
I wonder if the creator chose this because of that New Year tradition.
I don't know where you are from, but as the clock starts chiming midnight on New Year's Day, you have to hide under the table and eat 12 grapes, making a wish with each grape you eat.
Photography is a fun and creative way to express yourself. You really can customize it to whatever your style is, as well as your artistic level.
This creator is definitely a fantastic artist, and the cover page looks like a painting!
Last but not least is this more minimalist black and white theme. It's much easier than a lot of others on this list and could be perfect if you want something faster for January.
At the same time, it looks very stylish, and the color contrast between white and black really elevates this layout.
