Navigating the sea of Bullet Journal theme ideas each month can sometimes feel like trying to choose your favorite ice cream flavor at a parlor that seems to have every imaginable option under the sun – overwhelming, yet exciting!
As we embrace the warm embrace of summer, the possibilities for our Bullet Journals bloom like flowers in June. It’s the perfect time to freshen up our pages with vibrant themes that reflect the joy and energy of the season.
Whether you’re a seasoned journaler or just dipping your toes into the inky waters, I’m here to share a scoop of inspiration with a sprinkle of humor and a whole lot of enthusiasm. Let’s dive into some sizzling summer theme ideas that will make your Bullet Journal as refreshing as a dip in the pool on a scorching day!
Oh, how much I adore Summers! It’s like Spring but without all the sneeze-inducing pollen that wages war on my sinuses.
There’s something about this time of year that just sparks a firecracker of inspiration. I mean, think about it: Summer is a treasure trove of themes waiting to be explored in your Bullet Journal. From the adventures that beckon with each rising sun to the serene beauty of nature in full bloom, and not forgetting the bustling array of summer events – festivals that make your heart sing, movie premieres that have you at the edge of your seat, or lazy beach days that seem to stretch into infinity.
Here’s the kicker, though – and lean in for this little nugget of wisdom – your Bullet Journal setup for Summer doesn’t have to be confined to what’s typically considered “summery.” Caught in a downpour of brainstorming for theme ideas? Remember, the world of Bullet Journaling is as vast as the ocean, and you’re the captain of this ship! If a whimsical winter wonderland theme in the middle of July calls out to you, then by all means, chart that course!
At the end of the day, your Bullet Journal is a reflection of you, a personal oasis in the desert of daily routines. It’s your rules, your canvas, and your story to tell.
So whether you choose to ride the waves of traditional summer themes or set sail in a completely different direction, remember that every page turn is a step towards making this summer uniquely yours.

Stationery Recommendations
Before we dive into the theme ideas, let’s talk about supplies. I know that the world of stationery is wide, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed and end up buying something you don’t like.
That’s why here I’ll share some of my recommendations for things that I know you’ll love:
- Fineliners. These are the basis for every Bullet Journal page and your faithful companions in the world of journaling. My top recommendation is the Sakura Pigma Micron, which also comes in different nib sizes, allowing for a variety of line thicknesses.
- Brush pens. Brush pens are perfect for adding brush lettering to your Bullet Journal pages, drawing, or even adding color. I would recommend the Tombow Fude brush pen for a smaller brush tip and the Tombow Dual Brush for a larger brush tip and significantly more colors.
- Stencils. Stencils are a great way to add decorative or functional elements to your Bullet Journal pages quickly. And unlike stickers, stencils are reusable. For Spring-themed pages, I think you would love these beautiful floral stencils.
- Markers. These are a must-have if you’re a fan of colorful pages. The choice of these depends on the colors you like. My favorites are Zebra Mildliner and Tombow Twin Tone.
Now that we have all your supplies prepared let’s dive in and pick your next Bullet Journal theme.
Bullet Journal Summer Theme Ideas
Anything and everything can be your monthly Bullet Journal theme, and I know how overwhelming it can feel. So, I've gathered here a few inspirations to help jump-start your creativity and show you just a few possibilities you have with your Bullet Journal.
Try these themes, or you may use them as inspiration to create something uniquely yours. Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun exploring your creative side this Summer.
Ice cream never tastes better than on a hot summer day, and you can't convince me otherwise. Making this a perfect theme for any month of the Summer.
For me, summer is the time to take a tropical vacation, even though I haven't taken vacations in summer since college. But I thought of all the things that symbolize tropical for me, and here we are.
I don't know anything about hiking since all my hikes were half-day affairs. But hiking seems like a great summer activity, so here it is as a theme for your Bullet Journal setup.
Flowers are a great thing for every month! I really love the colors of these flowers, very Summer-themed! And using a dutch door for a cover page is really creative.
This particular page is about the trip itself, but really, the entire theme is full of beautiful pictures of their travel destinations. Considering how few times we really print and look at our pictures, it's a fun idea to use them for your monthly theme.
June is my birthday month, so I always try to do something special for my theme. I love makeup, and it's fun to draw it as well, so this theme was a no-brainer!
As a huge tea drinker myself, I absolutely love this theme! The retro approach is also super fun, and the colors scream both Summer and retro.
Under the sea is such a fun theme because there are so many stunning color combinations you can use! In this particular spread, I love how the creator used different shades of blue to minimize the ocean.
I love this theme, and I think kraft paper makes every page more aesthetically pleasing. Plus, it's a great example that just because Summer is usually associated with bright colors doesn't mean you have to use them in your journal.
This theme is absolutely stunning, and I love that this is a great example of creating a beautiful theme with just stationery, no drawing skills required.
Lemons are fun and bright and make for a perfect theme for Summer (lemonade, anyone?). I think it's a beautiful touch that the creator added some kraft paper to the cover page as well.
This stunning cover page took my breath away! What a fun and creative theme for your Bullet Journal!
Just Summer can be a perfect theme for your journal. Think of all the things you like and associate with the season, and you got your decoration ideas right there!
Drawing patterns can be so satisfying and calming. So why not try them as your Bullet Jornal theme this Summer? So, every Bullet Journal page won't just look great but will bring you extra calm while you are creating.
Speaking of patterns, you can definitely create some amazing ones with washi tape. This cover page looks absolutely stunning!
And if you're looking for a good place to shop for washi tape, I recommend WashiTapeShop; they have designs and colors for any aesthetic.
This is such a stunning theme idea! Way to bring your love for home decor to your Bullet Journal pages. You might not have the money to buy that $2k Neva round daybed (or is it just me?), but you can absolutely include it on your Bullet Journal pages.
Since Summer is your top time to go on a vacation, travel can be a great theme idea! This particular spread is a memory page, but you can quickly turn it into your entire theme.
