Stationery Recommendations
Of course, this wouldn’t be my post if I did n’t take a minute to talk about stationery you might enjoy using for creating banners.
You can use your old ballpoint pen, but if you’re looking for something extra and good recommendations, I’ve got you covered.
- Fineliners. They create these great reach black lines that are perfect for banners. There’re many greats on the market right now, but my favorites are Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens and Sakura Pigma Micron.
- Coloring is optional for banners, but if you do – I prefer using bright colors to make the banners stand out even more! You know that my favorite coloring pens are Zebra Mildliners.
- Markers. You might want to use colors to outline the banners instead of a fineliner. My favorites for this are Tombow Twin Tone markers and Zebra Clickart Marker Pens.
- Stencils. Another awesome thing about banners is that they can easily be created with stencils! Here are some awesome stencils from Amazon that will allow you to create stunning banners in seconds.
Now that you have all the supplies prepared and ready to get inspired let’s look at all the different Bullet Journal banners.
Bullet Journal Banners
There might not be that many banner variations, but with each banner you can achieve completely different look if you customize it with patterns of colors or any other elements.
Here I gathered banner ideas and designs from different creators who all have their unique approach and I'm excited for ou to find the perfect idea for you.
Let's start with a set of basic banner designs; they look so neat and classic. I love that the creator added a slight shadow to each banner, making them stand out a bit more.
The previous creator went all black and white with their banners, but here are similar banners but with color used instead of black. The color accents are subtle and don't occupy that much space, but they still make the banners look bright and colorful.
Another fun way to decorate your banners is to add doodles around it. In this example, we see beautiful flowers coming from behind the banners, but you could use any type of doodles you want.
These banners were created for use as headers, and they would look great on your weekly spread pages! And here is another fun idea: use colorful markers instead of black pens to outline your banner designs!
Here are a few ideas for larger-sized banners. They are perfect for longer titles, or maybe to highlight some extra important information, like you would in your school notes.
This is more of a set of header ideas, but as you can see, many of them also have banners, so I thought it would be a helpful inspiration. There are a few exciting banner designs here, but it's also a great example of how you can integrate your banners in headers.
When I think of banners this is what I think about, the banners that almost look like they are moved by wind on a knight's tourney.
I particularly like to use these designs in my printables, as they are perfect for larger headers.
So far, we've only had subtle ideas about adding color to your banners, but you can do full-on and color your entire banner! I think it's super fun and adds a very different look to your banners.
Here is a set of cute little banners. I always find when you draw something in a smaller size, it makes it look more adorable.
But eithreway, these will look great full sized as well, so feel free to use any of these ideas in your Bullet Journal pages.
Do you want to try something different? Well, how about washi tape banners? These definitely stand out and are a great reason for you to bring out your washi tape collection.
Here is one more set of monochrome banner designs. As you can see, here, the creator decided to add lines to the back part of the banners, and it definitely added a different feel to them.
These smaller banners are perfect for adding dates to spread like a weekly log. This is an amazing example of combining fonts and banners to create fun and unusual header designs.
These banners just have a special feel to them, wouldn't you agree? I think it's the thicker black lines on some, contrasting with slight color accents, and of course, these other little details the creator added.
