7 Simple Font Ideas For Your Bullet Journal
Bullet Journal lettering is a creative way to personalize your pages and make your planning process more enjoyable. From bold block letters to whimsical script, the fonts you choose can set the tone for your spreads and reflect your unique style.
If you’ve ever felt stuck in a rut with your letters or want to add a touch of flair to your layouts, experimenting with different font ideas is a great place to start.
In this post, we’ll explore seven simple yet stunning font styles that are easy to recreate and perfect for adding personality to your Bullet Journal.

Fonts are really the easiest way to make your layouts stand out. If you play around with different fonts, you can easily create beautiful headers and visually make your pages more interesting.
Moreover, just having the same font for your titles in the entire month will help you create a unified theme; you don’t even need to add anything else.
The best part about playing with fonts is that it doesn’t have to be anything difficult. You just draw letters! No need for brush lettering skills or any other specific knowledge.
You simply find the alphabet style you like and draw the letters you need. And for this post, I’ve created 7 different styles that I think you’ll enjoy trying in your own Bullet Journal.
My only word of warning would be to ensure that you pay extra attention – when you draw your letters, rather than write them, mistakes and misspellings can easily happen, as I know so well from my own Bullet Journal.
Oh, and be sure to scroll until the end to get some lettering FREEBIES that will help you master all types of lettering and make your Bullet Journal that much more appealing.

Stationery Recommendations
There are so many supplies to choose from, and I’m sure you want to pick the ones you’ll love using the most.
So here are a few of my favorites, especially for creating different fonts:
- Sakura Pigma Micron – these are some of the best fineliners, perfect for creating all types of elements in your Bullet Journal. Their black archival ink will make all your headers look sharp.
- Tombow Fude Brush Pens – my favorite small tip brush pens will allow you to create the most intricate headers, especially with smaller elements. Plus, of course, you can use them for brush lettering.
- Crayola Super Tips – these are some of the best markers out there, since they come in so many colors and are pretty affordable.
- Tombow Dual Brush Pens -if you’re looking for something extra, these brush pens are it! They have tons of colors and double tips, so you can use a brush tip for lettering and a marker tip for adding smaller elements.
Now, with supplies ready, let’s get into some fun fonts!
Bullet Journal Font Ideas
Here are a few ideas for different fonts to use in your own Bullet Journal. I created these with the idea to keep it simple, while still being creative and fun.
The best part is, of course, that you can customize them so much! You use different colors or fill the letters with different patterns, and you’ll be able to get a completely different look.
So, let’s dive in!
Monoline Font
This font is super cute and fun. I love the combination of capital and small letters; I think it always adds a bit of variety to all the projects.
I think this font can work exceptionally well for smaller headers, such as those on your weekly spreads.

Colorful Font
This font is basically very thin block letters, and I outline them with a grey marker. You can skip the outline or not.
I love adding colors to the letters, and I tried a few different ones here. I think if you add color, it also helps to smooth a little bit any errors my shaky hands made while drawing the outline of each letter.

Three-Line Font
This is a straightforward font. It’s basically serif, only for some part of the letter, you use three lines.
This would probably look good in black as well, but I really love all things color, and I barely ever use the thin tip of my Tombow Twin Tone markers.

Thick Colorful Font
This font is basically making each letter a bit puffy and with rounded corners. Plus, no circles inside the letters.
I think these look the best when you have a different color for each letter, but of course, this is up to you. You could fill out letters with any color or pattern you like.

Fun Font Idea
This font kind of makes me think of Disney font, and I think this is where I got the inspiration. Here I showed you how it looks if you just outline the letters vs how they look when filled out with color.
This was not my initial idea, but I outlined letter A the wrong way, so this is how it turned out. I think in the end it’s fun to show different variations.

Simple Minimalist Font
This is a type of half-block font, but with rounded corners.
And you have ample space for the thick parts, allowing you to add color or other patterns, and many ways to customize to your style.

My Favorite Font
There is no other name for this font; this is my go-to favorite font for everything in my Bullet Journal!
It’s basically rounded block letters with this little shadow effect. All the lines in the shadow take some extra time, but I think it is absolutely worth it.

And there you go, here are a few simple fonts for you to copy and try in your Bullet Journal, and keep on scrolling to get even more ideas!
