Plan With Me: May 2025 Bullet Journal Setup

Sharing is caring!

May is here, and that means it’s time to refresh your Bullet Journal setup with a burst of creativity and purpose!

This monthly setup is a little bit different, and I hope you’ll enjoy this vibe. But I can tell you for sure that no matter what, this setup is there to help me actually keep on planning.

Whether you’re looking for ideas to streamline your planning or inspiration to make your journal bloom, this May setup has something for everyone. Let’s crack open those notebooks and get started!

It’s May 12th as I write this blog post, and I just finished my monthly setup last night.

I think it’s important to share that sometimes things happen, and you might not complete your monthly setup on time or skip a few weeks of planning.

You can return to your Bullet Journal and start your monthly planning on any day of the month; there is no reason to wait for a new week or the beginning of a new month.

For me, May started too fast and with too many issues, so I simply had no time to get ready. The beginning of the month was all about planning on a piece of paper. Thankfully, last weekend, I got a few hours, and here is what I came up with.

Stationery Recommendations

Let me first share the stationery that I used for this monthly setup. I don’t have that many supplies, and especially in this setup, I went very minimalist with everything I used.

  • Nuuna journal. I know they don’t have the thickest paper, but I really love the smaller dot grid and slightly bigger pages. Also, my last Nuuna journal lasted me for a year and a half, so I’m pretty excited about that.
  • Sakura Pigma Micron. 03 is my favorite size for pretty much everything, but I wish I had a thicker fineliner for this particular theme.
  • Tombow Dual Brush Pens – I have a few of these pens left, and these are the colors I went for in this setup.
  • Tombow Fudenosuke – this is my only black brush pen, and this time, I used it just to color elements that have a lot of black in it.
  • Helix Circle Maker. I actually used it this time for all the circle elements.

This is pretty much everything that I used for this monthly setup, so let’s just dive in and finally look at the pages I’ve created.

May Bullet Journal Setup

So, what are we doing for the May setup? I wanted to go with something simple and with few color accents.

I didn’t have that much time, to be honest, but I wanted to get on track with all the planning, and with pages still having some united theme.

So I went for thick black lines and bold letters with little circle color patterns. I think it came out looking pretty nice, and it only took me maybe about an hour (together with some anime playing on TV).

Cover Page

For the cover page, I used big block-style letters for the month’s name. I think it came out pretty nice.

But it made me realise that I need to get some more just black pens because filling out all the black lines here ended up pretty time-consuming, and I think I still can see the streaks.

Monthly Log

Usually you’ll see me using a calendar format for mt monthly log, but the thing is – I was in a hurry and I wanted to create a quick layout.

Plus, I realised I don’t really need the half-page I usually have for a monthly to-do list; a little space at the bottom is enough.

To ensure that I still clearly understand where the week starts and ends, I added the weekend color streaks to the monthly log.

Bullet Journal Trackers

As you can guess, I didn’t do any tracking the first week of May, and I was so far behind on my habits that I haven’t followed through with any of the good habits I’ve been cultivating.

So I definitely wanted to add my usual mood and habit trackers, but since there was no need to record the entire month, I ended up adding a tracker for just the rest of the month.

Gratitude Log

Finally, after doing all my trackers, I had half a page left, so I decided to use it for a gratitude log.

After all, this is a fantastic tool for helping you be more positive and see the brighter side of your life, and I’ve been feeling like I want to have more of these emotions in my life.

The benefit here is that this journal has a smaller dot grid, so I actually can fill so much more on just one page.

So, having half a page is definitely enough for me to add a line of gratitude for each day for the rest of the month.

Weekly Spread

Of course, I had the time to create my first weekly spread for the month, so I can share it here.

I don’t necessarily like this weekly setup that much, and I made a mistake with some spacing on one of the days, but I think it’s important to share layouts even if you don’t feel like it’s a perfect layout.

And that’s it; these are all the pages I have for now. It’s not a lot, and I want to do more in my Bullet Journal, maybe for June. But it’s enough to serve me this month and help keep me productive.

Having a cute and elaborate journal is definitely an advantage and a nice thing to have, but you always gotta remember that the most important is to have the tool to help you get organized.
