Yearly Dot Grid Journal Ideas To Try
Looking for Bullet Journal ideas to kick off your year? Your journal can hold all kinds of layouts, each offering its own benefits and purpose. In this post, weโre honing in on yearly pages.
Every time you open a brand-new dot grid journal, it feels like life is full of possibilities. Building out yearly pages in your Bullet Journal is a motivating way to channel that energy. With a bit of planning, youโll find it easier to stay organized, track growth, and reflect on your progress as the months unfold.
Whether youโre aiming to track habits, set meaningful goals, or just make your journal more inspiring, these yearly dot grid journal ideas have you covered.
So grab your favorite pen, and letโs explore fun and practical pages to make your journaling adventure both creative and productive.

While you might be used to creating monthly or weekly pages in your dot grid journal, there are so many yearly pages that can be just as helpful!
In fact, many pages you might already use, like trackers, can easily be adapted into a yearly format instead of a monthly one. And trust me, there are some great reasons to give yearly pages a try.
Yearly layouts give you a bird’s-eye view of your entire year. This makes it so much easier to plan for the future and stay consistent with your goals. A huge plus is that you only have to set up the page once for the whole year, rather than creating a new one every month or week.
Now, I’ll be honest, there is one little downside to yearly pages. Some of them contain information that might shift as the year progresses. For example, you might start the year super excited to track your moods, only to realize after a few months that it’s just not for you.
Or maybe you’ll create a big goals page, and then a few months later, you’ll discover your priorities have totally changed.
Ultimately, itโs your call whether you want to incorporate yearly pages into your journal. My advice? Give it a shot and see how it feels! Personally, I love having a big yearly overview, even if things change and the page doesn’t perfectly match my reality by the end of the year.
Since youโre here, I bet youโre ready to explore some yearly page ideas. Let’s look at some options and see what might work for you.

Stationery Recommendations
Before we dive into the spreads, let’s talk about some supplies that you might need to create these pages.
You can create a spread with just one black pen. But really, wouldn’t it be more fun to use more different stationery? I always find that just getting a new marker might inspire me to create a new design for my spreads.
So let’s stay motivated, and let me share just a few of the pens I think you’ll love.
- Fineliners. You’ll need those to draw all the lines and tables. Plus, if you want to decorate your tracker with doodles, these will be perfect as well. Currently, Sakura Pigma Micron are my favorite fineliners.
- Colorful pens. If you want to add some color to your entries, a set of colorful pens could be your best tool. Lately, I’ve been loving Paper Mate Flair pens.
- Brush pens. Small ones are great for creating beautiful headers or doing any type of drawing. I recommend using Tombow Fude Brush Pens.
- Makers. You’ll need a good set of markers, and Zebra Mildliners are my favorites. But really, markers depend on what kind of color you like.
Ok, you’ve got all your supplies prepared, let’s look into the yearly pages you will love using in your journal.
Yearly Dot Grid Journal Ideas
If you twist a bit, pretty much any page can become a yearly layout, so it's up to you to pick what works best for you. But this list has plenty of inspirations to help you get started on picking the layouts that work for you.
Let's start from one of the best pages to help you set your yearly goals - a level 10 life spread. This helps you evaluate your life and set goals for the upcoming year that fit your life and values.
When setting up pages in your journal, there is always a lot of math to do - you want ot ensure that everything is even and well-sized. A page like a grid spacing guide, and you get to have all the measurements. A guide can help you speed up this process.
You create this guide once, and you get to have all the measurements ready for the next time you create a layout.
I love bucket lists; I think they are great to ensure that you enjoy your life outside of your usual routines. Having a list like that can help you easily fill your year with some fun, unforgettable activities.
A vision board is a great way to set your intentions and start imagining the life you're building. Creating a bit poster can be too much, but a cute little page in your journal can be easier, and you'll still see it every time you open to plan the day.
Whatever you are committed to doing for Zan for the entire year, you can create a yearly tracker. In this case, it's a workout tracker, and I think it is a very powerful page to help you stay on track with your health and fitness goals.
If you are an avid reader or trying to go back to reading, you might enjoy having a layout for the books you're planning to read that year.
An about me page is usually the layout I create in every new journal. I look at it as a way to ground myself and create a good image of who I was when I started a new notebook. These layouts are super fun to create and to look back at, so you get to see each year how much you've been changing.
A simple tracker you can easily commit to is a year in pixels - it's a yearly tracker to keep an eye on your moods. It can have plenty of benefits for you to understand yourself better.
I love doing memory keeping in my notebooks. I look at all the dot grid journals as books of my life, and so it's fun to add layouts to add more flavor to it.
A fun and easy layout to try for a year is a year in photos, where you add one photo for each month of the year. And I'm using my HP Sprocket for this.
Another fun and functional page is to have a layout for all the important dates for the upcoming year, like birthdays and holidays. It's kind of a different type of future log.
I find that it helps to create a year-end review page once your year is over, to keep a layout that can help you reflect on what happened and see how far your life has changed.
Cleaning is a chore, but if you approach it in an organised way, you can easily make it more manageable. Having a cleaning tracker for the year will allow you to turn a chore into something you can easily manage as the year progresses.
Future log is a wonderful page that will give you the very future dates, like doctor appointments or planned vacations, so you're never caught up on an overview of your entire year ahead. Unlike an electronic calendar, you can see the entire year with all the dates in one glance, and I think it makes it easier.
