Stationery Recommendations
Of course, we can’t be talking about Bullet Journal themes without supplies, so here I wanted to quickly talk about a few things that you’ll love using in your Bullet Journal, and not just this summer.
- Fineliners. You’ll need them to create all the pages, and they are especially great for doodling and drawing. I recommend trying Sakura Pigma Micron.
- Markers. In case you want to add some color, you’ll need some. I recommend starting with Crayola Super Tips since they come in so many colors and are pretty affordable. My second choice would probably be these Tombow Dual Brush Pens.
- Brush Pens. These are perfect for creating beautiful headers, and I’d recommend starting with Tombow Fude small brush pens.
- Stencils. If you want to speed up the process, you can always try out these planner stencils, which have a lot of planning elements, as well as some decorative elements. Using this, you can create pretty and decorative pages in no time.
OK, now you have your mood set and the supplies ready, so let’s find you an inspiration for your next summer Bullet Journal theme.
Summer BuJo Themes
I know I was talking a lot about bright colors of summer, but don't worry, I have plenty of ideas here that are more subtle and minimalist. After all, it's your journal, and you can do anything you want with it, and I want to cover as many different styles as I can.
Here you have inspirations from different creators, each with their own ideas and aesthetics, so I'm sure you'll find among these pages inspiration and elements for crafting your own summer theme.
And if you still need more, just check the links at the end of the post!
Starting with my theme for June, which was all about bright summer colors and beach vibes. I was going for something that is easy and fast to draw, but still brings the happiness of the season.
I think in general, fruits are a great theme to try in the summer, where the fruits are fresh and extra delicious! I love how this creator also added flowers to it, just to add a bit of variety.
This idea is not necessarily deeply connected with summer, but I love it nonetheless. It has this light and aethereal feel to it.
Botanical drawings are always an excellent choice for any season. I love how in this one, the creator also played with red, white, and blue colors; I bet it's a nod to Independence Day.
Just because it's summer outside doesn't mean that it has to be all bright and colorful. If you go for black and white and something simple like this moon phases, it can look just as stunning!
Fireflies for me are always about summer, so it's a great theme to explore this season. And I love how the creator added the shades of blue that definitely highlight the light from the fireflies.
For me, summer is always about tropical weather, those rich greens, the heat, and the beautiful sea. If you want to follow this idea but don't want to get too illustrative, just drawing leaves like I did will definitely do the trick.
I imagine hot air balloons are only a summer time activity, going up in the air open like that in any other season sounds way too cold for me. So summer theme it is!
Honestly, I have no idea how to call this theme; it could be an ice cream theme. But it also has a bunch of summer-themed doodles, so I would say this is a general summer vibe. I love it - so many things you can explore with this approach.
What can be more summer than having a coconut in your hand, sitting at the beach? So it's a perfect theme for the season, and this creator absolutely nailed it!
I absolutely adore this incredible watercolor illustration the artist did for their cover page. It's beautiful, and the color combination makes it pop from the page!
Continuing with the magical themes like mermaids, I bring you here an idea of a castle theme! This creator really went overboard, but it absolutely paid off - this cover page is like nothing I've ever seen!
Somehow, summer is the time when the yearning for travel is stronger, so why not bring it to your Bullet Journal pages with a travel theme? Here is a cover page with my take on this idea.
You don't need to go all extra in your theme, you can go with something more elegant and minimalist like this beautiful layout. Also, can I say how green and pink look so good together!
As I mentioned before, all fruit-based themes are very summer for me, and this is an inspiration for an easy but fun and colorful watermelon theme!
The only summer thing about this theme is probably the colors of the cats, but I don't care. Cats are perfectly all year long, and since they cause me despicable allergies, seeing them on other people's bullet journal pages is the only way for me to enjoy.
Last but not least is this creative idea. I would never think of such a theme, but look how stunning and fun it actually looks!
